Designing for a designer and a multinational HQ

Hampshire-based interiors’ specialist Brazier Interiors has completed two high-profile contracts worth £429,000, including a highly original fit out for a neighbouring design agency and work on the headquarters for Dorset-based international aerospace, defence and electronics group Meggitt.

Brazier Interiors, which is based at Rushington Business Park, Totton, Southampton, has won an impressive amount of new business recently from a diverse range of customers, ranging from multinationals such as Meggitt to established Hampshire successes. It has just completed a design and build project for its neighbour, design agency CDD, when it moved from Chandlers Ford to 5,500 sq ft purpose-built headquarter premises.

Managing director at Brazier Interiors, Roy Martin, explained: “This was a complete fit out from shell to design studio, including photographic studio with mezzanine floor extension, open plan offices, boardroom facilities, client suite, break out areas, toilets and shower rooms, file storage, staff kitchen area, floor coverings, voice, data and electrical systems, plus management of the air conditioning and ventilation systems, and adaptation of parts of the existing building to suit the client’s needs.”

A complicated project, the highly original finished result has drawn praise from both CDD and its commercial property agent. Steve Radjen, managing director of CDD, said: “Brazier Interiors was one of five companies which pitched for the fit out of our new £750,000 building. Not only did its quote fall within our budget, but also the innovative interior layout ensured we maximised working and office space whilst ensuring we retained all the aspects necessary for a creative studio. A complex project was managed with true professionalism at all times. The final result is excellent, giving us an office and studio we are proud off. When we expand into the additional space next door, Brazier Interiors will undertake further work.”

Added Tom Everington, head of building surveying at Young & Butt, which represented CDD: “Brazier Interiors is always on our recommended tender list when we have a design and build project and in this case it provided the most technical and competent presentation, subsequently delivering an original solution on time and on budget.”

Meanwhile, at Meggitt, situated at Aviation Park West, Bournemouth International Airport, Brazier Interiors completed a 14-week fit out of Atlantic House from shell to prestigious international headquarters, including reception, open plan offices, boardroom facilities, client suite, break-out areas, kitchen facilities, floor coverings, voice, data and electrical systems. “Brazier Interiors performed a very good service for us and was extremely helpful during the contract,” commented David Clark, assistant secretary, Meggitt. “We are very satisfied with the finished product and would certainly consider using the company again if the opportunity arose.”

With 40 years’ experience and regarded as one of the UK’s foremost commercial interior design and build specialists, Brazier Interiors is active not only in Hampshire, but winning new business in neighbouring counties and further afield. Roy Martin concluded: “This is an exciting time in terms of growing the business and we have several projects underway, including the construction of our own specialist showroom, which will open in 2007.”
